Post Provo Teen Book Fest

Okay, I’m later than I would have liked in gushing about how fabulous the Teen Book Fest at the Provo Library on November 12 turned out to be. What a fabulous afternoon of author presentations, crafts, and activities. The event started out with a sell-out crowd (the tickets were free, but hey) to hear key-note speaker Ally Condie. As one of the presenting authors, my two daughters and I were treated with reserved front row seats. Ally was great, telling her experience in creating ‘Matched’ and her newly released ‘Crossed’.

The big ballroom in the library was then transformed into Dystopian Boot Camp. There were all sorts of activities from ‘Hunger Games Archery’ to ‘Get Matched with your Perfect Mate’. For ‘The Limit’ they had ‘Pool Noodle Jousting’ (SO COOL and so much fun) (Read the book, you’ll make the connection) and a fantastic debt/credit game that was like The Price is Right with a fun twist–and candy bars for the winners.

Each author gave a presentation and signed books. The final even of the day was a panel featuring all four authors–Elana Johnson and Robinson Wells were there as well as me and Ally.

The Provo Library puts on amazing events every year. If you missed this one, make sure you stop by next year.

Provo Library Teen Book Fest

This is going to be so cool! The theme this year of this awesome event is Dystopian–so THE LIMIT will feel right at home. Four authors will be in attendance, and the library will have crafts and activities related to each book. I’ve heard a rumor that there will be a credit/debit game (something like THE PRICE IS RIGHT with a twist) to honor THE LIMIT. I can’t wait to see exactly what they came up with.

Other authors featured are Ally Condie, Elana Johnson, and Robinson Wells. November 12 is the day to mark on your calendars. Click here for all the details.

Tooele and Award Ceremony

Busy day coming up on Saturday. I’ll be spending most of the day in Tooele, Utah at the Children’s Book Festival. There’s a ticketed ’Brunch with the Authors’ event in the morning and free activities in the afternoon. Click here for all the details. It should be a lot of fun.

Saturday night the Utah Book Award winners will be anounced. THE LIMIT is one of the three finalists in the children’s category.

Layton Utah Barnes & Noble

I’ll be signing at the Layton Barnes & Noble on Wednesday, July 13 starting at 6:00 PM and ending . . . hmm, I’m not sure. They never gave me a time. I’m assuming I’ll be there for a couple of hours. Be sure to check out the Utah Festival of Books this Saturday, June 4 in Provo, Utah. This will be a HUGE FREE event with tons of fun activities for booklovers of all ages.

Come join the fun on Saturday May 7 at the Provo Utah Library’s Children’s Book Festival! Click here for all the details. This is my first time participating in this annual festival. It should be a party!

A little later in May, on the 12th, I’ll be participating in a YA panel at the Utah Library Association’s conference.

Brandon Mull’s New Book = I Get to Meet My Editor

I’m so excited because I get my first face-to-face meeting with my fabulous editor, Liesa Abrams, in just a few short days! She’s actually coming out to Utah for the launch of BrandonMull’s new book, Beyonders: A World Without Heroes (I’ve read it. It’s great! I’m sure you can find details about the March 15 launch party on Brandon’s website.) She’s Brandon’s editor as well.

Thanks, Brandon, for bringing Liesa to Utah so I can meet her.

Thanks to Cindy and all the staff and kids at SoJo (South Jordan Middle School) for a great day! A special thanks goes out to the girl who helped me avoid disaster by stopping me from going into the boys’ restroom and showed me to the girls’ restroom. Another thanks to the girl who showed me how to turn on the tricky faucet in the girls’ restroom.

I got to hang out with authors Clare Dunkle and Ann Cannon today. They’re both awesome writers and some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.

Busy Week Coming Up

I’m spending all day next Friday (Feb. 4) at SOJO (that’s South Jordan Middle School) here in Utah. The theme for the day is dystopian fiction, and I’ll share the stage with the amazing Clare Dunkle.

Saturday afternoon from 1:00-4:00 I’ll be signing at the Sandy, Utah Barnes and Noble.
